From Pulpit to Pianos:  The Journey of Troy Nolen
 

Troy Nolen's life has been a harmonious blend of faith and music, rooted deeply in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama.

His connection to the Church of God (Anderson) began as a child in the mid-50s, attending the original First Church of God with his mother and grandparents. As the church relocated and his faith grew, so did his musical involvement, leading him to direct the choir there. At 18, in 1974, he married Linda Cruse, a fellow member of First Church. Now, 51 years later, they share a son, twin granddaughters, and one great-grandchild.
 

In pursuit of formal music ministry, Troy and Linda moved to Houston in 1978 for him to attend Gulf-Coast Bible College. After a brief return to Huntsville, they relocated to Lake Wales, Florida in 1983 to attend Warner Southern College. While there, Troy secured a part-time position directing a 40-voice choir at a Baptist church in Wauchula for three years, gaining valuable professional experience.
 

The couple returned to ministry in 1986, serving as Associate Pastor (Music and Youth) in Hartselle, Alabama, and later serving as part-time music director at Huntsville First Church in 1988.
 

In 1990, Troy transitioned his passion for music into a specialized trade, taking over his mentor’s piano tuning business. For the last 36 years, he has meticulously serviced pianos across the Huntsville area, with a client list of over 1,450. His expertise is trusted by institutions like the UAH music department, the Von Braun Center, and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. He has even tuned for renowned artists, including Bill Gaither (5 times) and Kim Collingsworth (7 times).
 

Today, Troy and Linda still serve the music community, volunteering backstage as "runners" for Christian concerts. They have assisted major acts like Toby Mac, Lauren Daigle, Mercy Me, and Bill Gaither, offering a helping hand with everything from transportation to shopping, demonstrating their enduring commitment to music and service.
